She was just a little girl carrying her curiosity into rooms that didn’t know how to hold it.
Learning to quiet herself.
Learning to adapt.
Learning to believe she was the problem.

But here’s the truth many of us are still unlearning throughout life:
You were never broken.
You were never “wrong.”

You simply hadn’t stepped into rooms and the arms of those who see your heart, honor your creativity, and make you feel safe being fully and authentically yourself.

Jayne’s work centers on what she so powerfully names Body Grief: the quiet, complicated, and very real mourning that can arise when your body changes, when life takes an unexpected turn, or when the body you live in no longer mirrors the one you once knew.

She is a nationally recognized disability advocate, body image speaker, and author of This Is Body Grief.

What we most appreciate about Jayne’s work is how deeply human it is.

Having grown up with a mom in a wheelchair, I’m especially inspired by how Jayne gives language to experiences that are so often lived quietly and invisibly.

We’re honored to feature Jayne as our first 2026 Beauty of the Month, for her writing and art, and for her courage in giving language to experiences so many of us feel but rarely know how to name.
