I first read about how our relationship with ourselves often begins with our mother’s relationship with herself in one of my all time favorite books You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. It helped me see that if our mothers never learned how to love themselves, how could they possibly teach us to love ourselves?

I started being more curious about my Mom’s life and all the things she has been through – and it gave me more compassion towards her.

Because sometimes, the very women we wish had shown us more love are the ones who needed it most themselves.

I didn’t even realize how unkind I was being to my body.

I was pushing it. Silencing its needs. Overriding is cues.

But slowly, with patience and time, I started listening.

I stoped doing what I thought I should do or what everyone else what doing.

I ate when I was hungry, not when I earned it.
I rested when I was tired, not just when I deserved it.
I moved in ways that felt like care, not control.

And something shifted.
My body stopped feeling like the enemy.
It became my friend, my home.

I’ve never felt more connected to myself.
More honest.
More whole.

So if you’re still at war with your body or you just feel like you don’t always understand it.
I get it.
And I promise, peace is possible.

Start with one kind choice.
The rest will follow.
